About us

We are a non-profit agency serving children and young adults with disabilities.  Our mission is to provide optimal opportunities for each student and client to reach his or her highest potential.  We want each individual to grow and become independent in a safe, caring environment supported by dedicated staff, involved parents, and community. We focus on abilities rather than disabilities. Children's Center supports the following three programs:

PPEI

(Promoting Positive Early Interaction)  is an early intervention program that provides instruction and support for children from birth to age two.  The children served, up to 63 at a time, reside in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery Counties.  Services include physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and other services to meet the needs of the children with developmental delays and disabilities.  The earlier delays and disabilities are addressed, the more progress young children can make.

CCAP

(Children's Center Adult Program)  is a day habilitation program for young adults with severe disabilities and medical fragility.  We provide an array of activities to meet the physical, social and vocational needs of our clients.  Our primary objective is to provide a nurturing environment that will promote independence, self worth and socialization through art, music and leisure activities.  This program utilizes many volunteers not only for extra support in working with our clients but also to provide typical peers for our clients.  We have 23 young adults enrolled in our program and have a waiting list of other clients.
